What we fund

Care, conversation, and knowledge for people who are usually overlooked.

Three programs. One test for every dollar: does it help a real person be heard, seen, and cared for?

Flagship

Care at the Hear Me Health Center

The Hear Me Health Center in Orem, Utah provides sleep care and orthodontic care to people young and old. No one is turned away for inability to pay. The Foundation exists, first, to make that promise true.

Gifts to the Foundation cover the cost of care for patients who cannot cover it themselves: evaluations, treatment, devices, and follow-up visits. Primary care is coming next, and this program will grow with it.

TODO: confirm the funding mechanism in one sentence (e.g. "The Foundation pays the Health Center directly for charity-care visits approved under its sliding-fee policy").

Connection

Free access to being heard

Some people are carrying more than they can say out loud, and have no one to say it to. Through Hear Me, trained listeners offer real, unhurried conversations to people who need them.

The Foundation funds those conversations for people who could not otherwise afford them, one conversation at a time. This is not therapy and it is not a crisis line. It is a person, listening.

TODO: add the cost of one funded conversation (this figure is also used on the donate page tier cards).

Education

Knowledge that reaches families

Most sleep and breathing problems go unrecognized for years, especially in children. We fund evidence-informed education on sleep, breathing, and whole-person health, delivered where people already are: schools, community groups, workplaces, and faith communities.

Materials are free to the people who receive them. Presenters are clinicians and educators, not salespeople.

TODO: list 2–3 real venues or partner organizations once confirmed.

How we decide

Four questions, asked of every grant.

  • Is there real need?

We fund care and support for people who cannot otherwise afford it. Need is confirmed by the provider, not guessed at by us.

  • Does it protect dignity?

No one should have to perform their hardship to receive help. We favor programs where the person receiving care is treated exactly like the person paying full price.

  • Can we see the result?

Every grant names what it pays for: a visit, a device, a conversation, a session. We report on those units, not on vague "impact."

  • Would we be comfortable publishing it?

Every approved payment is visible to the whole board and requires two signatures. If a grant could not survive that, it does not get made.

What we do not fund

Being clear about limits is part of being trustworthy.

  • Cash payments directly to individuals. Funds go to the providers of care and services on a person's behalf.
  • Political campaigns, candidates, or lobbying of any kind.
  • Programs outside our mission of health, dignity, and access to care, however worthy.
  • Anything that would compromise the independence of the people receiving care or the people providing it.
Need care, or know someone who does? The Health Center's sliding-fee program is the front door. Start there, or contact us and we will point you the right way.

Fund the next visit, the next conversation.

Monthly gifts let us promise care before we know exactly who will need it.
